Dominion accepts grant applications (up to $5,000) to encourage the development of new programs to strengthen math and science education in kindergarten through grade 12. Innovation grants support collaborative efforts by two or more colleagues to develop and implement creative ideas that result in high student achievement. * Should engage students in critical thinking and problem solving to deepen their knowledge of standards-based subject matter. * Should improve students' habits of inquiry, self-directed learning, and critical reflection. * Funds may be used for resource materials, supplies, equipment, transportation, software, or professional development. * Preference given to applicants who serve economically disadvantaged students. |

| ExploraVision, sponsored by Toshiba and NSTA, announces a new competition for students of all interest, skill, and ability levels in grades K-12. The purpose of the competition is to encourage students to combine their imaginations with the tools of science to create and explore a vision of future technology. Students work in groups of two, three or four, along with a team coach or optional mentor. Winners will receive EE savings bonds worth $10,000 at maturity. | |
