Who We Are

The Capital Area Institute for Mathematics and Science (CAIMS) serves as a dynamic resource center for inquiry-based preK-16 science and mathematics education. Because the ultimate aim of quality science and mathematics is to use its applications to add to human knowledge, the Institute has distilled the best of the inquiry in a variety of disciplines to improve science and mathematics education.

CAIMS currently provides services to schools in south-central Pennsylvania, a natural extension of the University's rich tradition of direct services to schools. We provide professional development, curriculum resources and materials, and contracted services to public and private schools, charter schools, and home schools.
