Our Mission
The mission of the Capital Area Institute for Mathematics and Science (CAIMS) is to improve mathematics and science education in the Capital Region leading to workforce development and lifestyle improvement.
Our Goals
The desired improvement in education will be measured by increases in student performance. It is expected that the work of CAIMS towards its primary goal will have a number of secondary impacts including
- Higher numbers of students participating in available mathematics and science
courses at the secondary level
- Higher numbers of students participating in available mathematics and science-related
majors at the post-secondary level
- Higher numbers of students selecting mathematics and science-related careers
- Greater levels of job satisfaction for mathematics and science teachers
in P-16
- Greater support for mathematics and science education and careers from parents,
teachers, administrators, and taxpayers
• Improvements in the body of research available in this area
- Expansion of CAIMS services throughout the nation, directly and through
relationships with partners.
